I started in phase 3 of closed beta. Do I get an opinion? Speaking as a former pirate, this had about the same effect on my income as drone alloys did on miners. They should remove jump drives too while they're at it. Low sec is a shadow of its former glory.
So are you saying that by simply removing WTZ that would somehow return low sec to some sort of former glory? Maybe if you are strictly a pirate and live only to gate-camp, but players still need a risk/reward reason to go to low sec. I will again refer you to: No WTZ = overall soul crushing grind.

There are plenty of people going through low sec right now that I can't attack because of a combination of half of them warping to 0 and the other half not needing gates at all. Either remove warp to 0 or give me low sec bubbles. I don't care either way. No matter which they do jump drives need to go. **** the blob and **** risk free logistics. I'm not saying low sec doesn't need other improvements, but taking away most of the targets isn't helping low sec PvP any.
Considering that removing WTZ affects everyone in high sec and null where most players live, your proposition serves only to suit your particular play style and desires. You aren't going to get a low-sec bubble because of gate guns. You should probably be arguing for removal of gate guns in low sec instead.

I really don't think CCP is gonna' change all the cap ships' mechanics just because some low sec pirates can't get easy ganks. It also does nothing about risk free logistics for nullbears who can't fathom the thought of actually needing to guard their freighters.
LOL it wasn't just a "lazy game mechanic solution". Before WTZ traveling was a soul crushing grind that discouraged travel and caused players to spend 1/4 or more of their time just trying to get somewhere instead of playing the game they were paying a sub for, for entertainment
You do realize you are not limited to ganking on the destination side of a gate?
How many players exactly do you think would support having to go back to forcibly having to spend an hour or more per day of their game time "approaching stargate" just so you can get easier ganks?
